RU BCL leader receives stab wounds

RAJSHAHI, Jan 21 (UNB): A leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Rajshahi University (RU) unit was stabbed by some local youths on the campus on Sunday night over previous enmity.

The injured BCL leader is Imtiaz Ahmed, a fourth year student of Arabic Department and organising secretary of RU BCL unit.

Witnesses said when Imtiaz along with BCL vice-president Golam Sarwar was taking food in a shop adjacent to Bangabandhu Hall, several outsiders swooped on Imtiaz and stabbed him in the neck.

The BCL men managed to catch one Romel when the attackers were fleeing the scene.

Later, the BCL leaders took Romel to the guest room of the hall and beat him up.
