BCB announces West Indies tour squad

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday announced a 15-man Test squad for a two-match series against West Indies in July, reports UNB.

The first Test of the series will begin on July 04 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, while the 2nd Test on July 12 at Sabina Park, Kingston in Jamaica.

Abu Jayed Rahi, a 24-year medium pace bowler, got the maiden call for Test cap while top-order batsman Imrul Kayes, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Shafiul Islam have been recalled, after missing the two-match Test series at home against Sri Lanka in February.

Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Mosaddek Hossain and Subashis Roy have been dropped from the previous 16-man squad played against Sri Lanka.

The Tigers are scheduled to leave for the Caribbean on June 23.

Besides the Test series, Bangladesh will play three ODIs and three T20Is against the Caribbeans.

Selected players have been asked to report to the national team head coach Steve Rhodes at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur at 2.0pm on June 20.

Bangladesh squad: Shakib Al Hasan (captain), Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Liton Kumer Das, Mominul Haque, Mehidy Hassan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Rubel Hossain, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Abu Jayed Rahi, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Shafiul Islam.

Standby: Yeasin Arafat, Abu Haider Rony, Naeem Hasan, Musaddek Hossain Saikat and Mustafizur Rahman.
