Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman will be a notable absentee in the upcoming auction for the Indian Premier League 2019 following the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) refusal to grant him an NOC, reports Cricbuzz.
The BCB had decided against providing the fast bowler with an NOC to participate in foreign-based T20 leagues back in June, owing to fitness concerns in view of the upcoming World Cup next year.
The pacer had been told earlier in the year that he would be preserved for national duty and kept away from overseas T20 tournaments for a period of two years.
Mustafizur played a vital role in Sunrisers Hyderabad's title-winning campaign in 2016 with 17 wickets in 16 games, but played just the one game for the side in 2017. This year he was drafted in by Mumbai Indians but only played seven matches before a hairline fracture to his toe ruled him out. Eventually, he was one of the 10 players released by Mumbai Indians ahead of the 2019 IPL auction.
The nine Bangladesh players who will find themselves in the IPL auction this season are: Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman, Imrul Kayes, Abu Hider, Liton Das and two-Test old Nayeem Hasan. Shakib Al Hasan will be the tenth Bangladesh player to receive an NOC following his retention by the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
