Check money laundering to strengthen nat'l economy

Bankers at a programme in Rangpur city have emphasised on strictly preventing foreign trade-based money laundering and terror financing for further strengthening the country's economy, reports BSS.

They expressed the view at a refreshers' training and training course on 'Prevention of Money Laundering and Combating Financing of Terrorism' with the particular

focus on trade-based money laundering' at BRAC Learning Centre in the northern divisional city on Saturday.

The IFIC Bank organised the day-long event participated by 38 executives and officers of four branches of the bank under its Rangpur zone.

High officials of IFIC Bank also spoke on the occasion.

The speakers discussed the strategies for prevention of money laundering, terrorism financing, internal control and compliance, and foreign remittance, ethical banking, credit risk management and other related issues.

In his speech, Golam Haider urged the bankers to adopt different measures, techniques and existing rules to resist menaces like foreign trade-based money laundering and financing of terrorism for further strengthening the national economy to speed up the country's development.
