Exim Bank holds BAMLCO Confce

Exim Bank held BAMLCO Conference 2019 on 'Prevention of money laundering, terrorist financing and trade-based money laundering' at its head office in the city on Saturday, with BFIU Head Abu Hena Mohd. Razee Hassan as the chief guest. Managing Director and CEO of Exim Bank Dr Mohammed Haider Ali Miah and BFIU's Operational Head and General Manager of Bangladesh Bank Zakir Hossain Chowdhury were also present

The Exim Bank held BAMLCO Conference 2019 on 'Prevention of money laundering, terrorist financing and trade-based money laundering' at its head office in the city on Saturday, with Head of BFIU Abu Hena Mohd. Razee Hassan as the chief guest, says a statement.

Managing Director and CEO of Exim Bank Dr Mohammed Haider Ali Miah was present as special guest. BFIU's Operational Head and General Manager of Bangladesh Bank Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, Exim Bank's Additional Managing Director and CAMLCO Mohammad Firoz Hossain were also present.

Speaking at the conference, Abu Hena Mohd. Razee Hassan praised the steps taken by Exim Bank to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.

He said everyone should be aware about money laundering and terrorist financing from their respective positions.

He also said Bangladesh is now co-chairman of APG. So, everyone must remain alert so that no incident of money laundering occurs in the country.

Managing Director and CEO Dr. Mohammed Haider Ali Miah said that in the budget of fiscal year 2019-20, the government declared 2.0 per cent incentive for sending remittance through banking channel, which will reduce the flow of money transfer through Hundi and also reduce the chance of money laundering.

He highlighted various steps taken by the bank to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.

He mentioned the bank's zero tolerance policy against money laundering.

Among Others, Joint Director of BFIU Syed Kamrul Islam, Deputy Director Md Roknuzzaman, Deputy Managing Director of Exim Bank Md Humayun Kabir attended the conference.
