HSBC launches debit card in BD

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) in partnership with Visa recently launched HSBC Visa Debit Card in Bangladesh for its customers.

Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, MP, Speaker of the Parliament of the People's Republic of Bangladesh remained present as the Chief Guest and launched the card in presence of Francois de Maricourt, Chief Executive Officer, HSBC Bangladesh, the Banks' clients, regulators and media.

Also present during the launch were Md Mahbub Ur Rahman, Deputy CEO and Country Head of Wholesale Banking, HSBC Bangladesh, Scott Ellis, Chief Operation Officer, International, Retail Banking and Wealth Management, HSBC Asia Pacific along with Ahmed Saiful Islam, Country Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management, HSBC Bangladesh.

With the HSBC Visa Debit card, customers can avoid the hassle of carrying large amounts of cash to pay for their daily expenses. It can be used to pay with ease at merchant outlets, and to get cash from ATM machines anywhere in Bangladesh. The card has best in class security features, compatible with both NPSB (National Payment Switch Bangladesh) and VISA's network coverage and can be linked with foreign currency (FCY) accounts for international coverage - at ATMs and merchant outlets. The HSBC Visa Debit Card will enable customers to transact with over 13,000 local merchants for shopping, entertainment, dining and travel.

With GDP of 7.9 per cent last year and forecast at 8.0 per cent this financial year, consumption and debit card usage can only rise."

The HSBC Visa debit card features a brand new design - a modern interpretation of the HSBC lions, an iconic symbol of the Bank for nearly a century. Created using dynamic facets, the design invokes HSBC's heritage and spirit of resilience in a contemporary style.
