Insurance cos dominate top gainers chart

The insurance companies dominated the chart of top 10 gainers on Sunday following investors' increased participation on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

On the day, the insurance sector witnessed the highest price appreciation, while other major sectors performed mixed.

Of top 10 turnover leaders of the premier bourse, nine were insurance companies.

Of 47 listed insurance companies, the share prices of 36 advanced up to 9.98 per cent on the premier bourse DSE on Sunday.

The life insurers witnessed the highest return of 6.60 per cent in market capitalisation, while the general insurers posted the second highest return of 1.90 per cent.

National Life Insurance Company topped the chart of top gainers with a rise of 9.98 per cent or Tk 18.20 to close at Tk 200.50.

The share price of Prime Islami Life Insurance closed at Tk 56.20 each with a rise of 9.97 per cent or Tk 5.10.

The share price of Sunlife Insurance Company advanced 9.62 per cent or Tk 2.30 to close at Tk 26.20.
