Singer, BRAC to train 5000 women

Singer Bangladesh Limited and BRAC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for launching the joint project - 'Abolombon'. 5000 underprivileged women across the country will receive free 'Tailoring Skill Development Training' under this project. President & CEO of Singer Asia Limited and Chairman, Singer Bangladesh Limited Mr. Gavin J. Walker and Chief Financial Officer of BRAC and BRAC International Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid signed the MoU recently on behalf of their respective organizations. BRAC Founder & Chairperson Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, President & CEO of Singer World Corporation Mr. Stephen H. Goodman, Singer Bangladesh MD & CEO Mr. MHM Fairoz and other top Singer & BRAC Officials were present at the ceremony. Under the "Singer-BRAC Abolombon" programme 5000 women below the poverty line will be receiving free tailoring training at 20 Brac locations across the country in association with Singer. Participants will receive all learning materials as well as accessories needed for tailoring absolutely free besides free training. The aim of the initiative is to enable the beneficiaries to earn using tailoring skills and thus bring positive change in their livelihood. — Statement

Pubali Bank inks deal with BB

Pubali Bank Limited signed a participatory agreement with Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Second Small & Medium Sized Enterprise Development Project (SMEDP2) at the conference room of BB recently. With the financial support of Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Bangladesh, the agreement was signed under the refinance scheme of US$ 240 million to expand financial services for the development of Cottage, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (CMSME). Md. Abdul Halim Chowdhury, Managing Director & CEO of Pubali Bank Limited and Md. Abul Bashar, General Manager of Financial Inclusion Department of Bangladesh Bank signed the agreement. — Statement
