Ten most-traded companies accounted for 29 per cent transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Tuesday.
United Power Generation & Distribution Company topped the list again.
Market analysts said investors showed their appetite on United Power shares after that the company recommended healthy dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2019.
The power generation company has recently recommended 130 per cent cash and 10 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2019. The record date is on September 8.
The United Power and its major shareholder United Mymensingh Power recently executed an agreement with an international private equity group for an investment of Tk 8.5 billion (approximately US$100 million) which also encouraged investors, said a leading broker.
According to statistics available with the DSE, 763,147 shares of United Power were traded, generating a turnover of nearly Tk 301 million, which was 6.36 per cent of the total turnover.
The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 4.73 billion on Tuesday, down from Tk 4.85 billion in the previous session.
The company's share closed at Tk 394.40 each, gaining 0.72 per cent over the previous day.
The company has also reported consolidated earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 16.08, consolidated net asset value (NAV) per share of Tk 62.80 and consolidated net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) Tk 16.14 for the year ended on June 30, 2019.
The United Power, listed on the DSE in April 2015, disbursed 90 per cent cash and 20 per cent stock dividends in 2018.
The company's paid-up capital is Tk 4.79 billion and authorised capital is Tk 8.0 billion while total number of securities is 479.08 million.
The sponsor-directors own 90 per cent stake in the company, while institutions own 6.54 per cent, foreign investors 0.04 per cent and the general public 3.42 per cent as of July 31, 2019, the DSE data shows.
Monno Ceramic came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 147 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 2.75 per cent to close at Tk 216.10 each.
Khulna Power clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 142 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 50.10, gaining 0.17 per cent.
Monno Jute Stafflers emerged fourth, with shares worth Tk 131 million changing hands. The company's share rose 3.88 per cent to close at Tk 1,429 each.
JMI Syringes notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 122 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 494.70 each, losing 2.35 per cent.
The turnover of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation was Tk 120 million. The state-run company's share price rose 1.43 per cent to close at Tk 56.70.
Orion Infusions featured a turnover of Tk 112 million. The company's share closed at Tk 67.40 each, advancing 0.15 per cent.
The turnover of Beacon Pharma was Tk 104 million. The company's share price rose 3.27 per cent to close at Tk 25.30 each.
Silco Pharma featured a turnover of also Tk 96 million. The company's share closed at Tk 30.70, gaining 3.02 per cent.
Fortune Shoes also made its way to the top 10 turnover chart, with shares of nearly Tk 89 million changing hands. The company's share price advanced 0.25 per cent to close at Tk 40.10 each.
