Workshop on new VAT Act in Ctg

Chattogram Branch Council of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) organised a daylong workshop on 'New VAT Act and its implementation' at Ambrosia in Agrabad of the port city on Friday, says a statement.

Moazzam Haider, Chairman, Chattogram Branch Council (CBC), presided over the workshop. Speaking at the event, he mentioned the history of VAT Act and also highlighted its importance in the current situation.

Md Shaifur Rahman Mazumdar, former managing director, Chittagong Stock Exchange Ltd., attended the workshop as the session chairman while Md Mashiur Rahaman, Joint Commissioner, National Board of Revenue (NBR), Dhaka, and Md Tariq Hassan, Second Secretary (VAT Policy), National Board of Revenue (NBR), Dhaka, were the resource persons of the programme.

Md Shaifur Rahman requested all concerned to comply with the new VAT Act and said that professional accountants can play a significant role in this regard.

CFOs and senior executives of various corporations, industries and corporate houses and a number of fellow and associate members and senior students of ICMAB, Chattogram Branch, participated in this workshop.

Shahidul Hoque, Secretary, CBC, moderated the workshop while Wahid Ullah, Treasurer, CBC, gave the vote of thanks.
