World Congress of Accountants kicks off today in Sydney

Critical issues and trends affecting the accounting profession to be discussed

A major international 4-day accounting conference begins in Sydney today (Monday) that will bring together more than 6,000 delegates from over 130 countries to hear world-class speakers and leaders from the finance and business community.

The World Congress of Accountants (WCOA) is a momentous event for the global accountancy profession, a chance to engage with visionaries and leaders and bring own expertise to the fore on the world stage, industry sources said.

A group of finance and accounting professionals, CEOs and other delegates from professional accounting body like Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) among, others are participating in the high-profile congress.

They are upbeat to attend the congress as WCOA attracts accountants and financial professionals from around the world and gives them the opportunity to hear leaders in the field and to present research and debate business and financial issues.

Speakers typically include representatives of national and international accounting organisations, firms, regulators.

Mohammad Salim, President of ICMAB said, "It only occurs in every four years and this year WCOA accounting conference brings together more than 6,000 professionals from over 130 to hear world-class speakers and leaders across the finance and business community. WCOA offers the opportunity to engage and network with visionaries and leaders, and bring individual's expertise to the fore on a world stage."

Md. Touhidul Alam Khan, FCMA and Deputy Managing Director of Prime Bank opined, "The WCOA has been the premier accounting conference for the global business and finance community since 1904."

The speakers of five day congress will deliberate their speech on how blockchain is shaping our business world, embracing artificial intelligence, bitcoin & global tax regimes, Public sector professionals: shaping economic and social change, accounting in entertainment, public sector professionals: shaping economic and social change, sustainability accounting, integrated accounting and many other topics on contemporary issues.

"How will artificial intelligence change accounting? The first way of artificial intelligence (AI) will shift the shape of accounting is that it will automate all the manual and repeatable tasks. After AI has taken over those jobs, it will then find interesting patterns and correlations in the data that accountants look at every day and give them new insights and possibly creative ways of doing their work.
