B’deshi seafarers take over Japan container vessel

Bangladeshi seafarers have taken full control of a Japan flag ultra large container vessel at a ceremony in Japan recently, said a press statement.

One of the largest new container ships "MV Meishan Bridge" with the capacity of 14,000-TUES, was taken over by Bangladeshi seafarers from Haque & Sons Ltd.

A total of 23 seafarers including officers and ratings under the leadership of Capt Omar Kabir and Chief Engineer Md Ali Hassan were from Bangladesh.

KLSM Singapore and K-LINE Japan provided Bangladeshi seafarers the opportunity to operate this vessel.

Capt Saydur Rahman, Executive Director and Shichida San of HSL Tokyo attended the delivery ceremony along with official delegates from Kline Group.

Tokyo based Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd (K Line) took delivery of the 14,000-TEU at Imabari Shipbuilding Company's Hiroshima Shipyard in Japan.

In general, this ship can carry cargo of more than 200,000 tonnes.
