410 idle BRTC buses to be operative: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said that Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) has taken initiative to activate 410 inactive buses in phases.

The road transport and bridges minister said this while replying to a query made by Treasury Bench lawmaker Nizam Uddin Hazari of Feni-2 constituency at the Jatiya Sangsad (parliament) on Wednesday, reports BSS.

Of these inactive buses, Quader said 30 Korean CNG-run buses to be activated with the financial assistance from Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) of Korea.

Side by side, 162 buses to be activated under long term leasing system, adding that some buses to be activated with the own arrangement of the BRTC.

At present, BRTC has 1430 buses - where some 935 buses are active and 410 are inactive.
