CMCCI sells goods for poor

CHATTOGRAM, May, 21: The Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CMCCI) has started its second phase of the sale of Ramadan goods at subsidised rate for the poor and low income people in the port city.

President of the CMCCI Khalilur Rahman inaugurated an outlet in front of the head office of the KDS Group of Industries at Oxygen Square. Khalilur Rahman is also the Chairman of the KDS Group.

Under the programme, each person will get rice at Tk 25 per kilogram (kg), sugar at Tk 45 a kg, and bottled soybean oil at Tk 85 per litre, and Tk 170 for two litres.

CMCCI Vice President AM Mahbub Chowdhury and directors Aminuzzaman Bhuiyan and Jashim Uddin Chowdhury were present at the inaugural ceremony.

The CMCCI started selling Ramadan consumer goods at Agrabad in the city on May 13. Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain inaugurated the sale, a statement said.
