July 17, 2018 00:00:00

The2hourjob.com, the country's first job portal for women, has been launched to harness the unutilised skills of professional women, reports UNB.

Telecom and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar inaugurated the online platform at Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) in the city on Sunday.

The2hourjob.com is a portal that will give women opportunities to offer professional services staying at home.

ICT minister Mustafa Jabbar said, "The need for physical presence in the workplace is becoming less important than before, thanks to the tech-revolution."

"The2hour job is a platform for women where physical presence is not needed. Here all that matters is the skills that empower a woman. Regardless of the educational background, a woman can earn money and create their identities through their skills."

Sanjida Khandaker, the founder of The2hourjob.com, said, "A total of 1950 female professionals have registered under 47 service categories to serve different business houses, agency, individuals and e-commerce and startups."

"We believe that this is a reliable platform for women to utilise their potential while staying at home."

"Nevertheless, it will also help business outlets to get their job done at a remuneration they can afford to pay," she said.

"Now women would be able to manage two different worlds with ease-the family they belong to and the profession they take up to have a financial footing. This will make them self-sufficient," she added.

The Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance, the Bangladesh Intellectual Property Forum, Unilever brand Vim, the Woman and E-commerce Association of Bangladesh and Ogilvy partnered with The2hourjob.

From blog writing, website construction, audio and video support, research and analysis, programming and technology, professional and creative writing, business support to legal support all can be found on the same platform.

Anyone can create an employer's account and post a job there.

Professional women can register at http://www.the2hourjob.com/

The website allows the employers to pay the professionals through Master, VISA, and bkash.
