A Dhaka court has issued an injunction on holding election to the executive committee of 'Chandni Chawk Business Forum'.

Voting in the poll to elect executive committee members of the Dhaka market business forum was scheduled for Tuesday (September 24).

Judge of the Senior Assistant Judge Court-1, Dhaka, Begum Kaniz Tania Rupa, passed the order on Sept 19 after hearing a civil petition filed by 20 businessmen, including Md Jabedur Rahman, of Chandni Chawk market.

A copy of the order was served on Sunday to Barrister Sanzid Siddiquee, a lawyer of the petitioners.

The election commission, formed for holding the Chandni Chawk Business Forum executive committee poll, published the final voters' list on Sept 4, 2019, for holding the balloting on Tuesday.

Names of Md Jabedur Rahman and 19 other businessmen of the market were excluded from the voter list, said the complainants, who filed the petition seeking temporary injunction on holding the election to the executive committee of the business forum of Chandni Chawk, one of the prominent markets in the capital.
