FE Report | June 13, 2018 00:00:00

The last day of the two-day exposition on e-commerce attracted a large number of crowds on Monday.

The organisers said participants in the fair expressed satisfaction over the sales volume.

BIZ BEE, the business club of BRAC University (BRACU), organised the third edition of the expo titled 'The e-carnival 3.0'.

The event was organised on the BRAC University campus to promote the sector among young entrepreneurs.

Some 18 entrepreneurs participated in the expo this year, according to the organisers.

Of them, A&M Fashion BD, Rene Bangladesh, Goynar Baksho BD, Kraftz, Bagdoom, Kohinoor Boutiques and Ofra Online Mart showcased their products.

A large number of students visited the fair as they got multiple products and services under one roof, said BIZ BEE President Shafayat Khan Shihab.

The volume of sales was high as over 12,000 visitors came to the fairground, he told the FE.

A wide range of products, mostly ornaments and sports jerseys, were sold here, Shafayat Khan said.

Other items like T-shirts, mugs, posters, books, bags and dresses were also sold at the venue, he added.

Velvet Box and BD Badges House-the two initiatives of the BRACU students-registered a high sales volume.

Najib Mahmud Chuwdhury, owner of BD Badges House, said he was tremendously satisfied with the promotion that he achieved from this event.

He sold ornaments, badges and T-shirts.

Shaer, owner of Velvet Box, remained happy with the expected turnout of customers and sales volume.

Nearly 250-320 customers bought lifestyle and beauty products from his stall at the fair, he told the FE.

Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, former governor of Bangladesh Bank and also professor of BRAC Business School, visited the e-carnival on the last day.

Ms Dilara Afroz Khan, director of the Office of Co-curricular Activities of BRACU, also visited a number of stalls.

The Financial Express (FE) was the media partner of the event.
