An 'International Conference on Energy and Power Engineering (ICEPE 2019)' begins at the Savar campus of Brac University tomorrow (Thursday).

Prime Minister's Energy Advisor Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury is scheduled to inaugurate the three-day conference, organised by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of the university, as chief guest at 10:00 am on the day.

Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, Founder and Chairperson, Board of Trustees, will also be present at the opening ceremony.

The event aims at providing a platform to the leading researchers, engineers and scientists in the areas of power and energy engineering, the organisers said.

Energy and power are important issues not only nationally but also globally for shifting paradigms of energy generation and consumption, smart grids, renewable and green energy and climate change, they added.

Eminent professors and experts from USA, UK, China, India, Australia and Bangladesh will conduct the panel sessions and keynote presentations on the power and energy related topics.

In addition, the Vice Chancellor of Brac University Professor Vincent Chang will grace the event by his presence.

ICEPE 2019 called for papers from researchers nationally and internationally on December 10 last year.

A total of 36 papers have been selected for presentation. Among these, best papers will be awarded with certification and prize on the last day of the conference.

Dr. Ahmad Kaikaus, Senior Secretary of Power Division, will join the closing ceremony.
