Janata Bank earns operating profit of Tk 11.71b

The Janata Bank Limited earned an operating profit of Tk 11.71 billion in 2017, the highest in four years.

The amount was 16.63 per cent higher than that of 2016, according to a statement of the state-owned bank.

Following the guidelines of the bank's board of directors strictly has led to such a significant rise in the operating profit, said the bank's Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Md Abdus Salam Azad in the statement.

Besides, the bank has also taken necessary steps to ensure corporate culture and good governance at every stage of its operations, especially in respect of lessening the volume of classified loans, the statement said.

The bank has already reduced the amount of classified loans and made its 115 branches free from such loans, it added.
