Motor show enthrals visitors

A three-day motor shows that concluded in the capital on Saturday attracted a large number of visitors.

At the 13th 'Dhaka Motor Show 2018', the visitors got enthralled at the show, especially having a look at the "concept cars" of Toyota and the 1300cc sports motorbike of Suzuki, according to organisers.

Other exhibitions include the 4th 'Dhaka Bike Show 2018', the 3rd 'Dhaka Auto Parts Show 2018' and the 2nd 'Dhaka Commercial Automotive Show 2018'.

The shows began Thursday at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka.

The organisers said discounts and lucrative packages offered by different stalls were the main attraction to the shows.

The motor show has become a platform for launching the latest models of Toyota, Honda, Mercedes Benz, Ford, Mitsubishi and Peugeot.

Auditi, a visitor, told the FE that she was excited at the concept car.

"I dream about having one (concept car) one day as it is my dream," she said.

The fair has given the visitors an opportunity to see the models of different cars of world-class brands under one-roof, she said.

"I can't believe that the concept cars are right here in Bangladesh. I see these cars on my very eyes," Faisal, another visitor, told the FE.

"It's amazing and unbelievable. This type of show pleases us very much," he said.

"We usually see different models in different places, but here we can find these under one-roof," he added.

Shalek Shahrier, head of marketing of Suzuki, told the FE some 100 visitors took selfi of 1,300cc sports motorbike in every second to enjoy it.

The visitors asked us about the features of the bike whether they are allowed to ride the two-wheeler in the country, he said.

The bike is the world's fastest, he said.

The fairly large number of crowd makes the company optimistic about promoting the brand, the company's head of marketing said.

"We've come here for the promotional purpose. We're receiving positive response from the visitors," he noted.

"Branding is our main focus during this fair. We are here to display different models of motorbikes", he said.

Meherun N Islam, president and group managing director of CEMS Global, told the FE that the people

from all walks of life are visiting the show enthusiastically.

There were huge crowd on the weekend, she added.

This is the biggest and only international exhibition on Automotive, Commercial Vehicle, Bike and Auto Parts sector in Bangladesh, and will be a one-stop single platform to showcase the latest developments and emerging technologies for the automobile industry, she said.

This event is promoting the Bangladeshi and global automobile and auto-component industry, which will showcase the country's rapid development in this industry while acting as a launching platform for many new vehicles as well as new technology components.

Leading car distributors and dealers of Toyota, Honda, Mercedes Benz, Ford, Mitsubishi and Peugeot along with lubricant companies, battery and CNG conversion companies and automotive component manufacturers and importers from Japan, France Korea, China, the USA, Italy, Vietnam, the UAE, India, and host Bangladesh are showcasing their products in more than 600 booths.

The events were inaugurated by HT Imam, adviser to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs on Thursday.
