Motor show kicks off in city

A three-day motor show, along with a parallel exposition of bikes, commercial vehicles and auto parts, begun in the city on Thursday, displaying latest automotives and spare parts available in the country.

The concurrent four shows are 14th Dhaka Motor Show 2019, 5th Dhaka Bike Show 2019, 3rd Dhaka Commercial Vehicle Show 2019 and 4th Dhaka Auto Parts Show 2019.

CEMS Bangladesh in association with CEMS Global has organised the exhibitions at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB).

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun inaugurated the shows as the chief guest while REL Motors Managing Director Reyad Hasnain, Rancon Motor Bikes Limited Managing Director Shawn Hakim, Energypac Power Generation Director Enamul Haque Chowdhury, Karnaphuli Group Executive Director Anis-Ud-Dowla were also present at the programme, with CEMS Global Group Managing Director Meherun N. Islam in the chair.

Delivering his speech, the industries minister said Bangladesh will manufacture in near future motor vehicles to meet the growing demand of the country. "Car import should be reduced because we don't want to depend on others; we will manufacture our own vehicle in the coming days," he said.

He also said the country has come far in terms of industrial development, which has made the country a role model in the world.

The establishment of Bangladesh Small & Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) has primarily accelerated the growth of the industrialisation, Mr Humayun added.

Organisers said some 265 exhibitors from 16 countries including Bangladesh, Germany, Italy, France, the US, Japan, China, India and Malaysia are displaying their products and services in more than 580 booths at the shows.

The exhibitors are showcasing the vehicles like cars, sports utility vehicles (SUVs), multi utility vehicles, commercial vehicles, buses, trucks, three-wheelers, green energy driven vehicles, motor cycles, scooters and mopeds.

Auto parts and services like automotive components and spares, garage equipment, accessories, insurance products and services, auto finance and leasing, oil & lubricants, tires & wheels etc can also be found at the fair.

The financial institutions are also participating in the shows with attractive offers on various types of automobile loans.

Car and motor bike manufacturers like Suzuki, TVS, Subaru, Aprilia, Haojue, Power, Lifan, Keeway, Speeder etc. have taken part in the shows that remain open from 10:30 am to 8:30 pm for the visitors.
