Textile, garment machinery expo draws large crowd

The 16th Dhaka International Textile and Garment Machinery Exhibition (DTG)-2019 was thronged with visitors and representatives from the country's garment sector on Friday.

Exhibitors from over 35 countries have been displaying state-of-the-art technologies and products while the country's apparel makers have got a chance to find almost all their desired garment machinery under one roof.

Organisers expect that they might receive spot orders worth over US$ 300 million this year, up by $20 million in the previous year.

The four-day mega event began on Wednesday at the International Convention City, Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital and will end today (Saturday).

The expo was jointly organised by Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and Hong Kong-based Yorkers Trade and Marketing Services Co Ltd.

According to organisers, some 1,200 textiles and machinery manufacturing companies are taking part in the DTG-2019.

The aim of the expo is to connect local apparel and textile manufacturers and exporters with the global technology and machinery manufacturers, dealers and suppliers.

Taiwan-based Lisky Technology Co Ltd is displaying Lisky brand circular knitting and flat knitting machines, Krantz brand yarn dyeing and fabric dyeing machines, dryer & squeezer machine from Alea Stenter, brushing and raising machines and Long Chuan brand boiler.

Wang Xiu Ying, a salesperson of China-based Son-Tech Precision Machinery Co ltd, said her company has been displaying overflow dyeing machine, air & liquid multi-flow dyeing machine, sampling dyeing machine and laboratory equipment of various world famous companies.

Spintex Technology Ltd, a local company, has been coordinating exhibition of several international brands at stalls 126 and 513, said its assistant general manager Syed Mizanur.

Garment machineries from global brands like Picanol, Staubli International Ltd, Electro-Jet, Jeanologia S.L., CCI Tech Inc, Batliboi International, MAGEBA International, Gold Fai Machinery, and Huzhou Hyundai Textile Machinery are put on display at its stalls.

Talking to the FE, BTMA president Mohammad Ali Khokon said, "This year the exhibition has so far got huge response from local RMG makers and exhibitors - local and international, for well management and spacious venue."

Mentioning that DTG-2019 accommodates 400 more stalls than the previous year, he said it is the largest textile machinery exhibition in Southeast Asia.
