One-stop services to cut hassle, corruption

FE Report | April 26, 2019 00:00:00

Dubai-based OnTime Group, which provides one-stop UAE government services, is set to launch its operation in Bangladesh.

It has partnered with three local companies to establish three branches-one each in Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet.

The branches will be operational from June this year.

It is expected that establishment of the branches will ease the delivery of UAE government and corporate services relating to immigration from Bangladesh, investment in the UAE and so on.

It will also simplify all required services pertaining to tourism and other trade-related activities.

The OnTime Government Services is the UAE's leading government service provider to both government and corporate sectors, serving over 2.3 million (23 lakh) customers per year.

After launch of its operation in Bangladesh, it will handle all services on behalf of the UAE Embassy.

It currently runs more than 27 service centres across the UAE, dedicated to providing one-stop government services in a regulated and efficient way.

"In a bid to eliminate corruption and human trafficking, OnTime Goverment Services is now expanding its operation to Bangladesh," said a press statement.

Customers, migrants, businesspeople and recruitment agents will get access to the visa, medical, licensing, pre-orientation and ticketing services from the three branches in Bangladesh in a fully compliant and congenial environment.

With an aim to facilitate migration, OnTime will ease government and one-stop services in Bangladesh by capping visa and overseas migration costs, the statement said.

Fees will also be publicly advertised so migrants are not exploited, it added.

It said there would be only one-time medical tests and those would be processed at the OnTime centres reducing the processing time for workers.

OnTime will be working closely with the government, embassies, Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA), Bureau of Manpower, the Ministry of Expatriates and make sure that seamless recruitment processes are followed.

Furthermore, to support Tawjeeh, OnTime will provide pre-departure orientation services and approved certification that will ensure both comfort and security in both receiving and source countries.

It will also be providing business licences with direct visa applications without the need for business applicants to travel, reducing costs and processing time.

It also plans to expand services to seven other countries including Singapore and Malaysia in the next six months, according to the statement.

The branches in Dhaka, Chattagram and Sylhet will be located at Gulshan, Agrabad and Zindabazar respectively.

When contacted, Mustafizur Rahman, chairman of the Smart Group that will run the Chattogram branch, told the FE that the UAE would shortly begin importing manpower from Bangladesh and the people would get the quickest and easiest services from the centre.

"This is aimed at providing complete hassle-free services, even bank accounts will be opened through the centres." Mr Rahman added.
