BD sweat over Mahmudullah fitness

Bangladesh's World Cup campaign may have enjoyed a recent boost, with the team keeping their hopes of qualification alive with wins against West Indies and Afghanistan, but they will be sweating over the injury their experienced batsmen Mahmudullah suffered in the game against the latter on Monday, reports Cricbuzz.

The injury means Mahmudullah could miss the crucial clash against India on July 2.

Mahmudullah, who was batting on one run, sustained a calf injury while picking up a single during their game against Afghanistan and batted only after team physio Thian Chandramohan put up some compression tape around his calf. He added valuable 56 runs with Mushfiqur Rahim before getting out for 27 runs.

Mahmudullah could take no further part in the game and was taken to hospital for a scan. The scan report suggested that he had sustained a grade one tear which puts his availability for the India game under a cloud.
