Bangladesh received a huge scare ahead of their crucial clash against Afghanistan when in form off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz was struck on the side of his head by a ball during a net session in Southampton, reports BSS.

He is understood be out of danger. The incident happened when Miraz was giving an interview, on the sidelines of the practice session, on the eve of Bangladesh's match against Afghanistan.

"Miraz apparently wanted to continue batting in the nets but was not allowed to," said BCB media manager Rabeed Imam.

The injury to the off spinner is the latest concern for a Bangladesh team riddled with fitness worries. Mohammad Saifuddin and Mosaddek Hossain missed the game against Australia due to a back spasm and hurt shoulder respectively, while Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal and Mashrafe Mortaza are all carrying injuries as well.
