12 die in Laos dengue fever

VIENTIANE, July 20: As many as 12 people have died so far as a result of dengue fever in the first six months this year in Laos. According to local daily Vientiane Times on Friday, the central Lao province of Savannakhet has recorded the most cases. The number of dengue fever cases was more than double the number of cases during the same period in 2017, higher than other ASEAN countries compared to the population. — Xinhua

Pak troops shoot IS-linked blast mastermind dead

QUETTA, July 20: Pakistani security forces on Friday killed the mastermind of the country's worst ever suicide bombing in an early morning shootout in the southwest province of Balochistan, officials said. The operation was carried out on a intelligence tip off about the presence of an Islamic State (IS) operative identified as Hidayat Ullah in a house in Darenjo village of Qalat district in the restive province. — AFP

Ukraine bus accident claims ten live

KIEV, July 20: Ten people including a child died and another ten were injured when a passenger bus collided with a truck in northwestern Ukraine on Friday, officials said. The bus was travelling from the capital Kiev to the western city of Rivne when it hit a truck parked on the side of the road in Zhytomyr region in northwestern Ukraine, the state emergency service said. — AFP

Vietnamese court orders deportation of American man
