School attack leaves policeman, guard dead in Japan

TOKYO, June 26: Police say a knife-wielding man slashed and killed an officer in a local police station, took the man's gun and fatally shot a security guard outside a nearby elementary school in Japan. Toyama prefectural police said the unidentified male suspect was shot by a second policeman and captured after the attack Tuesday. — AP

4.6-magnitude quake jolts Myanmar

YANGON, June 26: A slight earthquake measuring 4.6 on Richter scale hit Myanmar's Sagaing region Tuesday. The earthquake struck at 06:32:16 local time. Its epicentre was 22.5 kilometres west-northwest of Monywa city in the region and 122 kilometres west-northwest of Mandalay seismological observatory. — Xinhua

Philippine army kills six police personnel mistakenly

MANILA, June 26: Philippine troops hunting communist guerrillas have mistakenly killed six policemen and wounded nine other officers who were also on jungle patrol, authorities said Tuesday. Arrest of woman over Hong Kong shooting
