The government has proposed to employ 1.0 million people more by the 2021 calendar year in order to achieve the goal of digital Bangladesh.
Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Thursday unveiled in parliament the national budget for fiscal year 2021-22 with a record outlay of Tk 6.03 trillion.
He said: "More than 50 per cent of our population is young, which is not more than 20-25 per cent in the developed world. More than 2.0-million people are entering our labour market every year."
"Thanks to the right policies and fruitful action plans of the government, a large section of the youth of Bangladesh is already enjoying the benefits of such modern and technology-dependent employment."
Mr Kamal said 1.0-million job opportunities for young people have already been created in the IT sector.
"Another 1.0 million will be employed by 2021 to achieve the goal of Digital Bangladesh," he cited.
