1, 97, 614 metric tonnes of rice expected to be produced in Manikganj

MANIKGANJ, Feb 17 (BSS): Transplantation of Boro seedlings has started in all seven Upazilas of the district in the current Boro season.
Office sources said Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has set a plan to bring 51, 423 hectares of land under Boro cultivation this year with a production target of 1, 97, 614 metric tons of rice.
Of the total land to be brought under Boro in the district, 9, 262 hectares of land in Manikganj Sadar Upazila, 5, 120 hectares in Saturia, 10, 825 hectares in Singair, 6, 915 hectares in Ghior, 7, 015 hectares in Shibalaya, 4, 410 hectares in Harirampur and 7, 876 hectares in Daulatpur Upazilas.
The farmers of the district are now busy in preparing lands and transplanting the seedlings of Boro with the hope of getting desired output.
The plantation of local variety on the low lands in beels, canals and char areas of rivers has already been completed.
After harvesting mustard, the plantation of Boro seedlings is continuing in full swing.
