120 pre-primary schools in Magura facing closure

MAGURA, Nov 27: One hundred twenty pre-primary schools in Magura are facing setback due to financial crisis.
Jagarani Chakra Foundation informed  pre-primary education was being imparted in 120 primary schools of Magura sadar Upazila and Mohammadpur Upazila of the district since 2010. The schools were being run by Jagaroni Chakra Foundation with the financial help of US Aid .
There was an agreement between Jagarani and US Aid over the programme. According to the agreement US Aid will give financial support till 31 December of this year. Under the situation the schools will now be deprived of financial support and will face closure .
The schools named as Protiva raised high hopes among the children. In the schools are taught without books. Toys, picture and plastic made letters are used in the schools. Though every school have only 30 seats for children. Much more children rush to the schools every year.
At present 3600 children are learning in the 120 Protiva schools while 4500 others dream to get admitted in the schools in coming year . But want of financial support for Protiva schools have shattered their dream . The news of closure of the schools have raised despair among the children as well as the guardians .
A total of 120 teachers and 16 others persons are working in the schools .With the closure of the schools they will be left in a precarious condition over unemployment.
Nurunnahar a mistress of Protiva school informed , I am working in the school for 4 years . I treat the school children as my own issue . I enjoy the company of the children . Moreover I was provided with salary by the school. After the closure of the school my earning will be uncertain .
When contacted Magura district primary education officer Md Shirajudhoha said, "I am aware of the matter . I have already visited the schools and informed my superior authority in this regard."
