150 girl students vow to prevent early marriage in Pabna

PABNA, Apr 29: Over 150 girl students of Bishakol village, one of the remotest areas under Ashtomonisha union in Bhangura Upazila of Pabna have taken oath to prevent early marriage on Tuesday.
Alarming increase of early marriage in the village brought the concern for the social workers in the district.
A social group 'Polli Shomaj' runs by non government organisation BRAC, initiated the programme here at the 'Bishakol Government Primary School' Tuesday afternoon to generate awareness against early marriage. A discussion was featured on the occasion focusing the negative effect of early marriage in the society.
President of 'Polli Shomaj' Rajia Sultana chaired the meeting while the headmaster of Bishakol primary school Abdul Mannan spoke as the chief guest. Among others assistant teacher of Bishakol high school Md. Momtaz Uddin, madrasa teacher Moulana Abdul Kaium, local UP member Osman Ghani, BRAC field officer Goutam Chandra Shingha spoke on the occasion.
