SYLHET, Dec 25: Distribution of incentives among the flood affected poor and marginal farmers was concluded recently in the Sylhet division. Already about listed 19,000 farmers got it, an official informed.
The listed farmers were given Tk 15368,000 in incentives for farming of some selected crops this time in four districts of the division. The programme had been taken up for the ongoing season in a bid to recouping the damages caused by the recent food in the region, informed deputy director at DAE, Sylhet divisional office, Dr Mamun Ur Rashid on Sunday.
District and upazila committees were entrusted with the implementation of the special programme. The distributed amount included Tk 4738,000 for Sylhet district, Tk 4305,000 for Moulvibazar, Tk 2021,000 for Habiganj and Tk 4305,000 for the Sunamganj district.
Of the total, 1100 farmers were given the assistance for maize, 17,000 farmers for mustard and 48 farmers for BT brinjal cultivation. However, 800 farmers for mung bean would be given in the coming summer season, he added.
Each of the listed farmers was given the assistance in seed, fertiliser and others. Each of listed 1100 maize farmers got the assistance in 2.0 kgs of seeds and 20 kgs of Di Ammonia Phosphate (DAP) and 10 kgs of Murate of Potash (MOP) fertilisers.
For mustard farming each of the 17,000 listed farmers was given one kg of seed, 20 kg of DAP and 10 kg of MOP fertilisers and other assistance. It covered 5,000 farmers in each of the Sylhet, Moulvibazar and Sunamganj districts while 2,000 in Habiganj.
On the other hand, 800 farmers in the region would be given the assistance for Mung bean in the coming summer, They would get 5.0 kgs of seed and 10 kgs of DAP and MOP fertilisers each. A total of 12 selected farmers in each of the districts got 2.0 kgs of BT brinjal seed and 15 kgs of DAP and 15 kgs of MP fertilisers.
