2 die, 2 missing in Narayanganj boat capsize

NARAYANGANJ, Feb 23 (UNB): Two women were killed and two people went missing when a boat capsized in the Shitalakkhya River at Central Kheyaghat area after two bulkheads crashed into it on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Sharifa Begum, 62, wife of Sirajul Islam of Babupara area and Parveen Akhter, 25, wife of Ali Hossain of Kalagachhia area of Bandar upazila.

Police said the boat sank in the river after two sand-laden bulkheads-'MV Sajib and Hasnat' and 'MV Brishti' hit it from the both sides, leaving Sharifa dead on the spot. The injured were rushed to hospital where Parveen died.
