2 get life term for attempted murder

A court in Sirajganj has convicted two people and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for attempt to kill a man by hurling acid in 2013. The convicts were Kashem Ali, 30, son of Kajem Ali of Sontala village, and Babu Chand, 29, son of Hashem Mollah of Charnandigati village in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj district. The court also fined them Tk 100,000 each, in default to suffer six months more rigorous imprisonment. According to the prosecution, the convicts stormed the house of Hafizul Islam, 17, at Charnandigati village and hurled acid on him while he was sleeping in his room on April 6, 2013 over a previous enmity. Hafizul received severe burn injuries to his face, including the right eye. Abdur Rahman, brother of the victim, filed a case on the following day and police arrested Kashem Ali and Babu Chand. After examining records and witnesses, District and Sessions Judge Abdus Sale pronounced the verdict on Wednesday, according to UNB.
