2 killed, 20 hurt in road accidents

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Jun 1 (BSS): A farmer was killed in a road mishap at Binodpur village under Shibganj upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as M Parul, 34, son of Faizuddin of Kamat village under Binodpur union of the upazila.

Police sources said the accident occurred when a locally made vehicle hit Parul in the area at about 7.30 am while he was going to his paddy field. He died on the spot.

Our Correspondent from Gopalganj says: A farmer was killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Khulna highway at Dumdia under Gopalganj Sadar Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Ashraf Gazi (50), a farmer of village Dumdia under Gopalganj Sadar Upazila in the district.

According to local people sources, Ashraf was seriously injured when a pick-up van dashed him during a crossing of Dhaka-Khulna highway near Dumdia bus stand under Gopalganj Sadar. He died on way to hospital.

A case was filed with Gopalganj in this connection and the dead body was sent to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital Morgue for autopsy.

BSS reports from Barisal says: At least 20 people were injured in a road accident in Kasipur Dairy Farm area on the Barisal-Dhaka Highway in the city here this morning.

Police sources said the accident occurred when a bus collided head-on with another bus in the area at about 9 am, leaving 20 passengers injured. The injured were sent to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

Of the injured four people are in critical condition.
