JAMALPUR, May 28 (UNB): Two people were killed and 50 others injured as a nor'wester lashed Sarmara in Bakshiganj upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Shalu, 50, and Masum, 30, son of Abu Taleb.
Witnesses said Shalu and Masum died on the spot when a wall of a tin-roofed building collapsed on them as they took shelter in it during the violent storm that swept the area for three minutes from around 10:00 pm.
Over 100 houses were damaged and a good number of trees uprooted during the fury of the storm.
The injured were taken to local upazila health complex.
Meanwhile, Bakshiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ershad Hossain Khan visited the affected area.
