2 to walk gallows for murder in Netrakona

NETRAKONA, Feb 9 (UNB): A court here on Monday sentenced two people to death for killing a freedom fighter in 2008.

The condemned convicts are - Bakul Mia, 48, of Paboi village, and Anwar Hossain, 27, of Birampur village in Mohonganj upazila. They were tried in absentia.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Hamid handed down the verdict.

According to the prosecution, Kanu Chandra Talukdar, 50, a freedom fighter of North Birampur village in the upazila was hacked to death by the duo over previous enmity on May 10, 2008.
