BENAPOLE, Oct 15 (UNB): Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued 23 people while they were being trafficked to India through Daulatpur border point in Benapole on Tuesday night.

The rescued hail from different areas of Khulna, Narail and Gopalganj districts.

Tipped off that some Bangladeshis were being trafficked to India through the border point, a BGB team conducted a drive in the area at night and rescued 10 women, seven men and six children, said Lt Col Abdur Rahim, commanding officer of BGB battalion-23.

The human traffickers, however, fled the scene sensing the presence of the BGB troops, said the commanding officer.
