DINAJPUR, July 23 (BSS): Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Dinajpur has taken up a programme to cultivate transplanted Aman on 2,49,800 hectares of land in 13 upazilas of the district during the current season.
DAE sources said 30 percent cultivation works have already been completed and rest of the works would be completed within last week of August.
Official sources said of the total 2,32,000 hectares will be brought under upshi variety, 2,300 hectares of land under highbred variety and the rest 15,500 hectares of land under local variety of the paddy.
The DAE is expecting a production of about 6,63,500 tonnes of Aman rice in 13 upazilas of the district this season if the climate is favorable.
