3 children burnt alive in districts

BARISAL, Mar 4 (UNB): Two siblings were burnt alive in a fire incident that broke out at their house in Muladi municipality area early Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Chandni,5, and Hasan,6, daughter and son of the municipality worker couple Zakir Hossain and Rani Begum.

Abdus Sattar Khan, chairman of Muladi upazila, said the fire erupted from a lamp at the house when Zakir and Rani were away at their workplaces locking their children inside at about 12:30 am.

Police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue for autopsy on Tuesday morning.

BSS reports from Madaripur: Four-month-old baby Ratna was burnt to death when a fire broke out in Mohanpur village under Shibchar upazila of the district this morning.

The fire originated from the kitchen of one Rajab Ali Mollah of Mohanpur village at about 9-30am today and engulfed the area within a short time and gutted 20 houses including 15 living houses.

Local people brought the fire under control after several hours of frantic efforts.

Officer in Charge (OC) of Shibchar Thana AKM Masud Khan confirmed the incident of fire and death of Ratna.
