PABNA, Mar 6: The annual conference of Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad (JRSSP) and a 3-day Rabindra congregation was inaugurated Thursday morning at Pabna Edward College premise.
Language veteran and journalist Ronesh Moitra inaugurated the programme lighting Mongol Pradip.
The three-day programme began with 'Bodhon Sangeet', 'O Amar Desher Mati'. Around 75 artistes from across the country performed in the Bodhon Sangeet with a spirit of devotion.
The opening discussion was chaired by artiset Sanjida Khatun, president of JRSSP.
Artistes of Chhayanaut performed music and dance in the opening day.
The 34th national Rabindra Conference at Pabna Edward College sponsored by Square Toiletries includes performance of Tagore songs, dance followed by Rabindra Shangeet, recitation of Tagore poems, awards to two veteran Tagore researchers, discussion, and a seminar on Rabindranath.
Over 700 JRSSP representatives from across the country joined the assembly in Pabna. "Representatives from 79 wings of the organisation across the country joined here in the programme." Abdul Matin Khan, secretary of JRSSP Pabna said.
On the opening day of the festival, cultural minister Asaduzzaman Noor and Tagore exponent Sanjida Khatun addressed the gathering.
