3 killed in separate road accidents

NARSINGDI, July 11 (BSS): Two persons were killed and 10 others injured in a road accident at Birampur in Sadar upazila of the district this morning. Police said the accident occurred when a truck collided head-on with a local vehicle 'Laguna', leaving Jalil Mia, 30, killed on the spot. Police rescued the injured with the help of local and sent them to the Sadar hospital. Later, of the injured, seven were rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition where one was succumbed to his injuries. Police seized the truck. But, its driver and helper managed to escape. The bodies were sent to hospitals morgue for autopsy. A case was filed with Sadar police station in this connection. 1 killed in Mymensingh UNB adds from Mymensingh : A road construction worker was killed and five others were injured as a truck rammed into their makeshift thatched room beside the Mymensingh-Kishoreganj road at Kanarampur in Nandail upazila early Monday. The deceased was identified as Kamal, 40. Police said the driver of the speeding truck suddenly lost control over the steering and the vehicle ploughed through the makeshift room at about 4am leaving six sleeping workers critically injured. The injured were rushed to Mymensing Medical College Hospital while Kamal succumbed to his injuries on the way. Police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee. A case was filed.
