SUNAMGANJ, July 7 (UNB): Three workers died as a sand-laden trawler capsized in the Surma River in Sadar upazila early Monday.
The deceased were identified as Jamir Ali, 22, son of Mollik Mia, Farhad,22, son of late Abduz Zahir, and Saimun, 27, son of late Abdus Salam of Shreepur village in Sadar upazila.
Police said the sand-laden trawler carrying six workers started for Weskhali from Dhopazan area of the upazila around 4:00am.
When the trawler reached Mollikpur area, it suddenly capsized in the Surma River being hit by strong current amid heavy rainfall around 4:30am.
Three workers out of the six on board the vessel managed to swim ashore.
