32 schools upgraded to colleges in Barisal

BARISAL, Dec 24 (BSS): The government has upgraded 32 schools to colleges in different districts under Barisal division this year aimed at ensuring equal facility of getting education by the students in remote villages.
Among those, six in Barisal, seven each in Pirojpur and Jhalkati districts, 10 in Borguna and two in Bhola districts.
Chairman of Barisal Education Board Dr Bimol Krishna Majumder told BSS that the initiatives of upgrading schools to colleges would facilitate the way of getting higher education by the students in remote villages.
This would pave the way of enrolling students at colleges as many poor students can not get admitted into colleges at district and upazila towns after passing out SSC examinations due to their economic insolvency, he said.
Majumder also said that the government initiative would help prevent drop out at colleges to a great extent.
According to Barisal Education Board, the schools which were upgraded to colleges in Barisal District are- Kashipur School and College, Lengutia School and College, KGS School and College, Sonar Bangla School and College, Paisa School and College and Ashakae Kalibari School and College.
