SHERPUR, Sept 22 (UNB): A court here on Sunday convicted four people, including three siblings, and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for killing two people in 2001.
The convicts are-Sayedul Islam, Samedul Islam and Shahidul Islam alias Buidda-three sons of Kafil Uddin and Lal Mia, son of Intaj Ali of Loykha village in Nokla upazila.
The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer two years more RI.
According to the prosecution, Mofazzal Hossain Rangu Mia, an Awami League of Shalkha village had an altercation with Kafil Uddin, a BNP activist of Loykha village over breaking a temple at Baromaisha bazaar in Nokla upazila on October 10, 2001.
As a sequel to the enmity, three son of Kafil Uddin-Sayedul, Samedul and Shahidul along with Lal Mia hit Rangu Mia and Abul Kalam with sharp weapons on the day, leaving them dead on the spot.
Anwara Begum, wife of Rangu Mia, filed a case with Nokla Police Station.
Police submitted chargesheet against the four people on February 13, 2002.
After examining the records and witnesses Additional District and Sessions Judge Mostaque Ahmed handed down the verdict.
