NATORE, Oct 16 (BSS): A court here on Wednesday afternoon sentenced four persons to suffer life term imprisonment for trading drugs on September 19, 2012.
Additional district and session judge Rohibul Islam pronounced the judgment in his crowded courtroom.
The court also fined them Taka 10,000 each, in default, to suffer one year more in jail.
The convicts were Tapu Raihan, son of Lokman Hossain of Gochar village, Golam Mustafa, son of Abdul Hakim of Charsingra village, Dukhu Miah, son of Khoka Miah of Charsingra village under Bagha upazila in Rajshahi district and Ramjan Ali, son of late Moinul Islam of Godagari in Rajshahi district.
On receipt of a secret information, Narcotic Control Department conducted a drive at Banbelghoria Bypass Crossing of the district town and arrested the convicts with 870 bottles of phensidyl on September 19, 2012.
The department filed a case against them with Natore Sadar Thana in this connection.
Police submitted charge sheet against them before the court after completing investigation.
After examining the witnesses and evidences, the judge of the court handed down the punishment.
