4 killed, 25 hurt in Noakhali road accident

NOAKHALI, Feb 19 (BSS): At least four people were killed and 25 others injured in a road accident at Uttar Wapda Bazar under Sadar upazila of the district last night.

The deceased were identified as Belal Hossain, 30, of Purbarajapur village, Jahid, 28, of Ayubpur village, Md Nur Nabi, 50, and Azad, 27, of Purba charuria village under Sadar upazila here.

Officer-in-charge of Shudharam model police station, Mosharaf Hossain Tarafdar said the accident occurred when a pickup van carrying 41 laborers collided head-on with a truck at 11pm on Tuesday, leaving four dead on the spot and 25 others injured. The injured were admitted to Noakhali Medical College Hospital.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.
