4 killed, 44 hurt in road accidents

GOPALGANJ, Mar 8: A motorcyclist was killed and his two companions injured in a road accident on Muksudpur-Baritala road at Kamlapur village under Muksudpur Upazila in Gopalganj district Friday.
The victim was identified as Shawan Munshi (18), son of Salam Munshi and a student of Muksudpur Fazil Madrasha in Gopalganj.
According to the police station, a speeding pick-up van dashed the motorbike of Shawan from behind at around to P.M while he was coming to Muksudpur Upazila sadar. Shawan died on the spot and his two companions seriously injured.
BSS reports from Jessore: A woman was killed and two others were seriously injured in a road accident in Manikdihi-Satmail area on the Jessore-Jhenidah Highway under Sadar upazila of the district on Friday evening.
The deceased was identified as Amena Begum, 50, wife of Sona Miah of Doherpara village of the same upazila.
UNB reports from Jamalpur: One person was killed and 15 others were injured as a bus carrying jute mill workers on a picnic plunged into a roadside ditch on the Dhaka-Jamalpur Highway at Haridrata in Sadar upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Jamal Pagla, 45, a worker of Sarishabari Alhaj Jute Mills.
Another report from Bhola says: A nine-year-old schoolboy was killed in a road accident on the Kabir Miah Brick Field Road at Joya village in Borhanuddin upazila here on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as M Yeamin, a class II student of a local primary school, while details of him could not be known immediately.
BSS reports from Patuakhali: At least 25 college students were injured, three of them seriously, in a road accident at Rajopara on the Patuakhali-Kuakata Highway under Kalapara upazila of the district this morning.
