4 to die for killing fish trader

BAGERHAT, May 18 (BSS): A court here today sentenced four persons to death and six others to life imprisonment for killing a fish trader at Sundarban area under Mongla upazila of the district in 1998.

The court also fined the six persons Taka 20,000 each in default to suffer another two years of rigorous imprisonment.

District and session judge SM Solaiman pronounced the verdict at a crowded court room here.

The convicts receiving the death penalty are: Atahar Hossain alias Paran Babu, ex UP chairman of Dema union under Sadar upazila, Babul Gazi and Kalam of the same area and Bachchu of Ranjoy village under Rampal upazila of the district.
