40 hurt, 9 critically in Gopalganj clashes

GOPALGANJ, Sept 21: At least 40 persons were injured, nine of them critically, in two separate clashes at Kotalipara and Gopalganj Sadar in Gopalganj district Saturday.

The critically injured Tushar Mia (30), Biplab Mia (32), Md. Oliar Rahman (20), Tuhan (22), Ikbal (38), Humayun Kabir (40), Omar Sheikh (50), Palu Sheikh (36), Zimrul Sarder (28) admitted to Gopalganj and  Kotalipara.

According to thana police and local people sources, the clash begun between two Sramik Union of Bashu and Bulbul Groups at Police Line bus stand centering on toll collection and another clash were begun between two Bangladesh Chatra League (BCL) groups at Sk. Lutfar Rahman College, Kotalipara in Gopalganj centering in a college election. Both groups used country made weapons.

Two separate cases were filed with Gopalganj and Kotalipara P.S. in this connection.
